Bethesda, Maryland-based EYA Development is expanding its multifamily capabilities with two new hires.
Caren Garfield, joining as vice president of multifamily development, and Jim Reed, coming in as vice president of multifamily construction, will lead new projects totaling over 2,500 units.
While townhome and condo communities are EYA’s primary development focus, the firm has delivered over 1,500 multifamily units over the past 30 years. Some, like The Daley at Shady Grove Metro in Rockville, Maryland, are dedicated multifamily communities. Others, like Chevy Chase Lake in Chevy Chase, Maryland, are paired with townhomes or condos.
Overall, EYA’s development focus includes siting residential development in mixed-use, walkable neighborhoods.
“Our commitment to expanding our multifamily development expertise with these key hires is part of a long-term strategy to fully leverage our residential, mixed-use and marketing acumen and to maximize the potential of our rapidly growing multifamily pipeline,” said McLean Quinn, president and CEO of EYA, in a press release.
Garfield previously served as director of multifamily development at Kimco Realty. She will be responsible for EYA’s multifamily business plan and lead teams responsible for entitlement, development, construction and asset management.
Reed comes from Bethesda, Maryland-based JBG Smith, where he served as management vice president of construction. Reed has been involved in the design, permitting and construction of more than 4,000 multifamily units, half a million square feet of retail and 1 million square feet of office space.
“Expanding and investing in the multifamily side of our business is a key component of our strategic growth plan,” Quinn said.
