A wonder window wall
The Window Wall System by KOVA uses a patent-pending installation process that allows users to insert floor-to-ceiling windows from the interior in mid-size multifamily projects. This reduces the amount of time needed to install the window, as well as the need for installation equipment such as a crane.
The system features a non-stutted thermal break, designed to improve energy performance in the building in which it is installed. The windows themselves provide a minimalist, clean-line design that does not require clips or additional components to secure.
Crisp and clean
Durasein is set to launch two new solid surface designs this fall: Icy Grey and Ever After. Icy Grey, new to the Balanced collection, is described by the manufacturer as “a dusting of snow on a frozen pond,” according to information provided to Multifamily Dive. The surface pattern consists of an array of dark speckles on a gray background. Ever After, part of the Dreamy collection, pairs a soft white with clean gray lines throughout.
Both designs are available in a 1/2-inch thickness and 30-by-144-inch sheets. Durasein’s solid surfaces consist of two-thirds alumina trihydrate and one-third acrylic resin and pigments. The resulting material can be shaped using standard woodworking tools.
Metallic aesthetics
The Perform Louvers line by Construction Specialties is designed to integrate into curtain wall systems and with interior louver blades without sacrificing a building’s aesthetics, according to a press release provided to Multifamily Dive. The aluminum skin is available in standard and storm-resistant models, and all models are tested to AMCA 500-L standards for air performance and water penetration.
The Perform Louvers are available in four models:
- Model PL-3600, designed for curtain wall applications.
- PL-4080, a louver with a perforated face and horizontal flat blade.
- PL-5700, a chevron blade louver with optional perforations.
- PL-5800, a patent pending perforated chevron model tested to AMCA 550 standards.
All lines are available in Kynar and powder coat, pearlescent or metallic tones or in custom colors.
Sandy exteriors
Bamboo is the newest color choice for Fiberon’s Wildwood composite exterior cladding. The blonde oak color is one of four in the Sahara collection, with tones inspired by sandy landscapes and deserts, and features gradients that mimic the look of natural bamboo.
“Lighter cladding colors are trending in the industry, so when our customers began requesting a lighter Wildwood option it seemed like a no-brainer to add Bamboo to the collection,” said Mark Ayers, senior vice president of marketing and product development for Fiberon.
Wildwood cladding is made from 94% recycled wood fiber and plastic content. It features an open-joint profile and is available in a variety of lengths and widths. The board cuts and installs like real wood, and its composite core is made to resist rotting, cracking, insects and decay.
