New York City-based equity firm and developer Madison Realty Capital has started leasing at the first of two residential towers at Woodside Central, a mixed-use development under construction in Queens, New York’s Woodside neighborhood. Brooklyn, New York-based real estate firm MNS Real Estate will handle the property’s leasing and marketing.
The full Woodside Central property, designed by AKM Architects, will include retail space, a public pedestrian plaza and a walkway connecting 47th Avenue with 69th Street. The developer has also entered a public-private partnership with the New York City School Construction Authority and Department of Education to build a new elementary school on the property. PS Q340 is under construction and expected to open in September 2025.
This first residential tower, located on 70th Street, is the smaller of the two with 183 residential units, according to a press release shared with Multifamily Dive. Leasing for the second tower, on 69th Street, is expected to start in the second quarter of 2023.
Both towers will offer studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 430 to 1,030 square feet in size. The units will feature oversized windows, wood flooring, whitewash cabinetry, a Blomberg kitchen appliance package, quartz countertops, in-unit laundry, a three-piece rainshower and individually controlled heating and cooling systems. Thirty percent are designated as affordable through the city’s Mandatory Inclusionary Housing requirement.
Amenities include a fitness center, laundry room, bike storage, a lounge, a business center and a roof deck with western views of Manhattan.
“In addition to beginning the construction of a state-of-the-art elementary school, we are pleased to be able to provide high-quality affordable housing to the vibrant Woodside community at a time when building affordable housing options is more critical than ever for New Yorkers,” said Zachary Kadden, managing director of development at Madison Realty Capital, in the release. “We are proud to deliver attractive new rental options at Woodside Central as the neighborhood continues to grow.”
