Across North America and throughout the world, modular construction continues to itself to be a faster, more efficient method of delivering much-needed multifamily housing, schools, workforce accommodations, hospitals, and more. Of course, modular and offsite construction are nothing new, but with the quickening rate of industry innovation and evolution, continuous education, networking, and knowledge, sharing is key.
To that end, the Modular Building Institute (MBI), the world’s largest international trade association for the commercial modular construction industry, is soon bringing its premier event—World of Modular—back to the convention capitol of the world: Las Vegas.
The 2025 World of Modular, to be held in Las Vegas April 7-10, will be an event like none other. Featuring over 1,500 attendees from across North America and around the globe, World of Modular will be a world-class forum, offering key insights, best practices, and the opportunity to meet leaders and expert stakeholders who are delivering the world’s best modular construction projects.
Expert speakers from around the industry
World of Modular will feature dozens of educational breakout sessions aimed at every level of modular construction professional. Sessions will include detailed architectural case studies, project team panel discussions, best practices and lessons learned from every industry sector, and much more.
One of the scheduled speakers for MBI’s upcoming 2025 World of Modular is Dean Dalvit, founding principal of Denver-based architecture firm EVstudio.
“World of Modular offers a platform to share groundbreaking ideas and engage with industry leaders,” says Dalvit. “I’m eager to discuss how we can close the knowledge gap between professionals across the industry with an intentional approach to design, permitting, fabrication, logistics, and construction.”
Another speaker, Rhys Kane, business development manager of Alberta-based modular manufacturer ROC Modular, is similarly excited. His presentation will explore one of the key tenets of successful modular construction projects: stakeholder communication and cooperation.
“My presentation will highlight the importance of collaboration in modular projects. I’m hoping to engage architects, contractors, and manufacturers in meaningful discussions that foster new ideas and have some good dialogue and positive takeaways.”
Building a true World of Modular
For the second consecutive year, this year’s World of Modular is but the first “World of Modular” event of the calendar year. The second, to be held later this year in Europe, will continue the growth and excitement of last year’s World of Modular Europe event in Brussels, Belgium.
“The modular construction market is very international,” said Ewelina Woźniak-Szpakiewicz, co-chair of MBI's European Council and CEO of Poland’s DMDmodular p.s.a, “and it’s becoming even more international every year. These events are unique occasions to really collect information from different countries, different companies, and different perspectives during a very short time, which is very beneficial.
“It’s very important to know how the market is developing,” she continued. “That’s the role of these events, and that’s why I’ve been a member of MBI since 2012.”
This year’s European event, to be announced soon by MBI, promises to be even better.
“Everybody wants to be here,” said MBI Board of Directors president and Axis Construction vice president, modular division, John Buongiorno at the close of last year’s World of Modular Europe. “They’re excited about being here, about learning, about sharing ideas. Everybody came here to share information.
“It’s all about creating a better industry.”
Celebrating the industry’s best at the 2025 World of Modular
As the industry largest global event, World of Modular is more than just industry education and networking. The event also serves as a celebration of the commercial modular industry itself.
Each year, the Modular Building Institute’s Awards of Distinction—its annual presentation of modular building industry awards and recognition—brings World of Modular to a festive close. These global, industry-leading awards are presented in a variety of categories, including several each for permanent modular construction projects and relocatable buildings. Excellence in innovation, "green" modular construction, and marketing are also recognized. Awards are also presented for Best in Show in each major category.
In addition to recognizing modular buildings at the ceremony, the Modular Building Institute also bestows individual honors to those who have gone above and beyond in their service to the modular construction industry. Most notably, MBI recognizes long-standing leaders into its industry Hall of Fame. Awards are also given for individual outstanding achievement and excellence in modular construction-related research, as well as for best state modular program.
